A brokerage firm, or broker, is a company or individual acting as an intermediary for a transaction, often financial, between two parties. Brokerage activity is regulated in many countries to protect market participants.
Often referred to by its Anglo-Saxon equivalent as a “broker”, the Forex broker is the intermediary between the operator (buyer or seller), also known as an investor (the trader), and the Forex market. There are two main types of Forex brokers: Dealing Desks, also called Market Makers, and No Dealing Desks, which we discussed in the first chapter.
Forex brokers are remunerated on each transaction made with them, in proportion to the amount of that transaction. Remember, however, that not all brokers, especially binary options brokers, are qualified or capable of providing investment services. Beware also of all Internet scams, as there are very few licensed brokers in this environment. You will therefore need to check that your broker is regulated by the Autorité des Marchés Financiers and the Banque de United Kingdom.
